Zohran Mamdani: an immigrant, Muslim, and card carrying DSA member, has won the NYC mayoral democratic primary. And this victory is bigger than one city.
In a time when billionaires bankroll politics, when housing is out of reach and public services are underfunded, Zohran ran on a democratic socialist vision that put working people first and won.
He stood with taxi drivers on hunger strike. He fought to fix the MTA. He called for a ceasefire when it was politically inconvenient. And now, he’s on track to lead the largest city in America.
For so many of us who’ve felt politically disillusioned, this is a reminder: we can still win. Real change is possible and we just took a giant step forward in the heart of capitalism itself.
